Ronseal Garden Paint is low VOC and suitable. It's often used for hedgehog boxes.

Lots of colour choices, but 750 ml comes in at around £10.

Interesting. We have a number of those (hog boxes) too although sadly after about 3-4 years of them staying, they've taken to only coming for food & water this time round.

If you take hogs to our rescue, and they later return them, you must have a box.

We took 3, so we have 3 boxes. No idea if any are in use, but we do have adults and young ones feeding each night.

We have 5 boxes in total. Bought made hog houses with felt roof. We've put slate over the top anyway for the rain & have the boxes slightly elevated off the ground.

A hog feeding station with dual entry although they tend not to use it & instead use the dishes we put out instead.

Last year we had many. A hog had 5 hoglets but 3 of them left & we had 2 remaining which stayed over winter. These have since scarpered although do come back for food.

We have a trailcam pointed at the entry point (they come under the gate at the side of the house) and then 2x Tapo cameras in the garden which we pick up their activity on.

I've absolutely no idea where they come from or how they make it here without getting squished. I'd love to 'box them in' here for them to stay in the houses as it'll be much safer for them than going out on the road (we live on a cul de sac but this connects to a fairly busy road), but that'd just be cruel to them as they'll get distressed if they can't leave.
