Fine Rejected by Ombudsman - Still Addressed to Wrong Driver
Hi, looking for some advice on whether this should be paid or not.
I borrowed my wife's car, and entered my vehicle registration to validate the parking rather than hers by mistake. It was a free car park and reg was only needed to validate.
My wife appealed the fine with the IAS, stating she was not driving the car, and that there would be a registration entered into their system for a car that did not enter their car park that day (my registration). We supplied a copy of the insurance document showing that the car was at the same address. We blanked out any names on the policy.
The appeal was rejected by IAS, but the parking company are still addressing the charge to my wife, even though she has informed them she was not driving the vehicle.
Do we continue to fight this as they still don't have the details of who was driving the vehicle?
Thanks.

IAS are not in any way shape or form an "ombudsman" nor was it a fine.
Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid2 -
It's from Premier Parking Enforcement Ltd

If you want to transfer liability you need to give them a name and address (even if it's the same as yours), and instruct them to erase all details they hold for you.
They won't do it themselves off the back of a kangaroo IAS case.1 -
Safe to ignore but come on, why did you bother with the kangaroo court?
The IAS is nowhere near an Ombudsman! Pretty much the opposite. It's owned by Will Hurley Ltd; same stable as the IPC trade body. 95% of people see their appeals fail.
Of course you 'lost'. It's designed to promise the parking firms 95% win rate. Ignore it. You never needed to appeal. These are almost always unfair scam invoices and good people DO NOT pay … but nobody should try the IAS thinking it's impartial or that it'll work.

"The appeal was rejected by IAS, but the parking company are still addressing the charge to my wife, even though she has informed them she was not driving the vehicle."How can they address it to you if she didn't transfer liability by naming you and giving your postal address?
Does she want to do that? She still can.
Which if you is better at laughing at the debt threatograms you saw in the pics in post 4 of the NEWBIES thread?
Post your IAS decision in my thread called IAS Decisions. You'll see! Add yours please.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Neither wife nor I have had a parking fine before, so didn't really understand the process of appealing! Thanks for the insight into IAS though.
I'll go and have a read of the Newbies thread and bring myself up to speed.
What's the typical time between the receiving the charge letter and getting something from Moorside?

"Neither wife nor I have had a parking fine before…."
That's good because you still haven't had a "fine" now!😉

A "major keying error" should have resulted in the charge being reduced to £20. By not offering this, the charge should be cancelled as a breach of the Single Code of Practice.
You won't be paying this anyway ;)Always remember to abide by Space Corps Directive 39436175880932/B:
'All nations attending the conference are only allocated one parking space.'
