Does anyone have a recommendation for a 60cm integrated dishwasher - standard hinges at the bottom

BSH range: Bosch - Neff - Siemens
One with an all-stainless steel inner tub (not plastic).

But what integrated machine will this be replacing. It may matter wrt the existing fixing screw holes and cupboard door fixings and plinth cut out required.

Bosch is difficult nowadays. I had an all-steel Bosch last time and it was ok, not great like Bosch used to be but it was made in Spain so I didn't expect too much. Now I have a Bosch which is almost the same but has a plastic base to the tub, but the machine is made in Poland. So it's better made but doesn't dry as well. You can't have everything, which is a shame.

Thanks for suggestions will look at Bosch and Siemens. it's a bit of a minefield.

Be aware Bosch & Siemens are the same company.

Siemens is more the premium brand, although differences in a similar price range are not a lot.

One advantage is that Siemens and the more expensive Bosch machines often offer a free 5 year warranty, if you register the machine with them.

From my experience, the features I look out for are:

• automatic door opening where the programme finishes and the door opens a few cm, really aids drying and also means you can put it on as you rush out the door
• anti flood which stops leaks in event of connecting pipe issues
• quick wash options
• noise levels

otherwise they are all pretty similar

It depends on the drying method used. I put my Bosch on when I go to bed and everything is clean and dry when I get up, door still firmly shut.

A tip is, you can adjust the dishwasher to suit the hardness of the local water ( the harder the water the more salt is added) and adjust how much rinse aid it uses for each wash.

However if you use 'all in one' dishwasher tablets ( nearly everyone does) in a soft water area, you can turn off the addition of salt and reduce the amount of rinse aid added to each wash, as the tablet already contains both salt and rinse aid.

Even in a hard water area, you can reduce the amount of salt being added, as there is some salt in the tablet.

It means you need to top up the salt and rinse aid less frequently and it still cleans the dishes OK.

Lots of people never use salt, lots of people never use rinse aid. I would say that if you are happy with the results without rinse aid then don't bother with it, no harm will come to the machine or your crockery. I would always recommend using salt unless you have very soft water because not using salt can harm the machine.
