WAP and Virgin PAYG

I have been trying to download java games to my samsung d800 for a few days now and had been unable to do so. Eventually I discovered that only games downloaded via WAP (as oppsoed to cable or bluetooth) will work on this phone.
I am using one of those free virgin sims that came with a free £5 credit(plus an extra £2 for registering) and cannot see how to connect to WAP using this method. I have seen a few games at mobile9.com but when I try to open the d800 browser, it takes ages before reporting that it could not connect. Is there anyone who has managed this successfully and does anybody know how much it costs to download with virgin's payg sim? Page 12 of the booklet which came with the sim says that it costs 10p/min for WAP access(if it connects) but I always thought that you pay per amount downloaded not for time spent on WAP.
