Next Door’s Terrace causing damp problems.
I live in the Middle Terrace. House next door is now tenanted although it used to be lived in by the landlord. Even when they lived there, they were ones forr getting work done cheaply and poorly and now they are renting it out that has got worse.
I previously had issues with water escape from their property – for example when their shower leaked and caused all the plaster to come off my side of the other side- which I’ve always fixed myself
While their property has been empty , there has been a leak which has brought their kitchen ceiling down. At the same time I have smelled damp on my side and there are new signs of efflorescence. This is behind the tiles and cupboard, so it’s not possible to see exactly what is going on. I also have plaster coming off the wall from previously floods they’ve had although they denied it that was them.
I am wondering who I need to get in to check this out properly not just getting some damp company will point something at the wall and try to sell me whatever the latest miracle technology is.
Also wondering what recourse I have against Next Door or whether this is still going to be down to me in my insurance..

Do you have Legal Protection on your house policy? If so, call them up for advice.
Just state the facts - and very briefly the previous issues.
(What does, "they were ones getting worked and poorly and on the cheek" mean?)

bloody Siri hates my accent, I should proofread it.
Work done poorly and on the cheap
I do have legal cover and will call them but are probably unable to tell me who I need to come out to assess the damage which is my priority at the moment - moving who was reputable and will properly identify the cause of the issues - I have pasta coming in the wall in other places as well which again I suspect is to do with leaks next door but have no proof. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

"I have pasta coming in the wall in other places as well"
Proofreading again? If not, I'd love to see a picture of this…

Keep a eye out for any mushrooms appearing on the wall in the damp area's.

Burp.
No, the LP won't name actual contractors, but I'd hope they'd guide you in the correct steps to take to cover yer butt.
If it becomes clear that the jobs they are doing are not up to par, and the repeated leaks are as a result of these failings, then they can be held directly liable. But it's likely you'll need to get someone out to confirm first.
Anyhoo, see what they say.
