Historic Property Charge
Hi
I am trying to remortgage and I have been told there is a historic charge on property from 2009. My partner who I owned the property with then died in 2009 and the debt was settled. I do not have any evidence and I do not recall who was the finance company. The solicitors who filed the charge are no longer in business, please help

Start with the registered charge, see who the company is and try and find where that company now is eg if it has merged or been taken over. Then hopefully they will agree that they no longer have an interest in the property and will agree to the charge being released.
