Travel insurance and cancellation

Can anybody recommend a travel insurance that covers for a travelling companions Father being taken ill - he is currently very fit and healthy and we are not related at all but I had my fingers burnt a few years ago when sadly her Mother was taken ill and we had to cancel the holiday and my insurance would not pay as that was outside of my policy

Would it not be more appropriate for your travelling companion to take out their own policy to cover the potential issue ?

Is there a reason not to buy a single trip policy covering the pair of you? Does mean one of you will have to do a full disclosure of medical conditions to the other which may cause an issue.

Insure and Go extend illness of a close relative to you and your travelling companions:

1) The death or disability caused by bodily injury, illness, or quarantine (on the orders of the treating medical practitioner) of:
- You.
- Any person you plan to travel or stay with.
- An immediate relative of yours or of any person you plan to travel with.
- A close business associate of yours;
