Don't be so sure about that.

Many insurance companies want to know about losses even if no claim was made.

This is from my insurer (esure).

You need to tell us about any claims and losses you made or which were made against you, regardless of the address you were living at. This includes incidents that were not insured, that weren't pursued or where the claim was turned down.

MarvinDay there has been posts on here that people have been told/advised to inform their insurance company if they have escape of water or similar issues even if a claim wasn't made

My insurer asks if any losses in the past year and not claimed in my insurance renewal.

There have been instances where people have called their insurancers and asked about claiming or similar and not made a claim but has been recorded as a claim and will have to be declared.

Blimey, that's an extraordinary condition, and utterly bonkers if taken remotely to its logical conclusion.

Drop a vase? Scratch your laminate floor? Crack your cistern lid? Trip over your laptop power cable?

Presumably with these types of potential claims you'd make the quick calculation that it wasn't worth doing so. But Esure still reckon you need to declare? Not a chance.

    Damp stain on ceiling? Ditto.

I wonder what Esure's actual expectation is here?
