Moorside claim form arrived- Wing Yip

Hi

Please give me advice on the following. I have checked most of the posts, and I think I should post a new thread.

I parked in the Wing Yip car park in Croydon for 10-15 minutes and went to another shop outside. I didn't even realize that there was a parking restriction. It was in February. I received a letter from UKPS asking for £65 for not following the parking rules. I searched the forums and drafted a letter, and sent it to them denying the charges. Since then, I have been receiving letters from Trace asking for money, and they have been sending emails, texts etc. I am not sure how they received my email address or phone numbers. I was ignoring all of these, thinking that they would stop after some time.

Then I received a letter of claim from Moorside Legal. It says that they are acting on behalf of UKPS Ltd and have been instructed to recover the outstanding balance from me.

They are asking for £170, £100 parking charge, and £70 additional charges.

I have searched the forums and drafted a letter as below. Please let me know if it is OK to send without filling in the claim form.

Thanks in advance

Dear Moorside Legal,I am writing in response to your Letter of Claim dated 13/07/2026. I formally dispute this entire alleged debt. I am currently seeking advice and require further information to properly understand the basis of your client’s claim. [1]In accordance with Paragraph 6 of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) Pre-Action Conduct and Protocols, please provide the following evidence within 30 days: [1]

  1. Proof of Landowner Authority: A redacted copy of the actual contract between your parking operator client and the landowner of the private retail park, proving they have the legal standing to issue charges and initiate court proceedings. [1]
  2. Photographic Evidence: High-resolution photographs showing the vehicle, the registration plate, and the exact timestamps of entry and exit. [1]
  3. Debt Breakdown: A full explanation of how the total sum has been calculated. Please note that adding arbitrary "debt collection fees" or "administrative charges" (typically £60–£70) onto a parking charge is considered double recovery and breaches the Consumer Rights Act 2015. [1, 2]
  4. Signage Location Map: A site map showing exactly where the terms and conditions signs were located on the date of the alleged breach.

Please place this file on an official 30-day legal hold while you gather this evidence. I look forward to your response.

……. and if you do want to place it on 30-day hold (not recommended) you do it on the basis of seeking debt advice and in line with the pre-action protocol for debt claims.

UKPS appear to be court shy.

Only one case in front of a judge in the last 4 months, in Coventry. Probably a larger, multi-ticket case.

Thanks all, I am drafting a letter as below. Please let me know if it is OK to send.

    Dear Sirs,

    Your ref:

    Proposed legal proceedings

    Claimant: UKPS

I refer to your letter of claim.

You should revert to your client because the 'propensity to pay' score in my case is zero, so any claim is hopeless and a waste of the court fee (whether 'fronted' by your firm or not). Move on to weaker victims.

The alleged 'debt' is disputed and any court proceedings will be vigorously defended.

    Yours faithfully,

    ----

You will still get a court claim if you send that

If however you would like to ensure that they are unable to serve a court claim then please drop me a private message. (the file will be closed etc)

Thanks. Do I need to add anything, or just send it as it is? I found their email address on the net and will send it. Please let me know, as I really want to avoid a court claim.
