Travel Insurance
Couldn't tell which section to post this in so apologies if incorrect.
We booked a holiday yesterday for September this year. When I have gone to sort out the Insurance today, I am struggling to find a company as I am currently under medical investigation by my doctor/hospital and I won't get the results of my tests for another few weeks. The condition that is being tested for is Sleep Apnoea. Any advice on how to get around this problem?

it might be a case of actually talking to a suitable firm that deals with medical issues. google "senior's travel insurance" and you should get some suitable candidates. it may be that you have to get a quote based on the presumption you have sleep apnea rather than wait for a diagnosis. I did something similar with our insurance as tests were advised and started before travel with little possibility of diagnosis prior to travel.

When we needed travel insurance a year or so ago we spoke to Staysure and they covered us for everything medical apart from the suspected issue which my OH was still undergoing tests for. We were also warned that we wouldn't be covered for cancellation if tests or hospital admissions meant we couldn't travel, but that was OK as already actually knew what was wrong (tests were a final proof) and the hospital had agreed to avoid our holdiay dates when booking things.
It wasn't cheap and they aren't my favourite company but they were prepared to do the medical declaration over the phone where some others really didn't want to insure at all.

Hi
We have used staysure and allclear for quotes and used Staysure, several times in recent years
It's always sensible, and many people are not, NOT referring to OP, to get travel insurance before or just after your hard-earned cash is given to the holiday co.
Have a chat with Staysure and Allclear—depending on whom you speak with, they should help.
Should you decided to go ahead, be aware and getting that on the policy wording 'waiting for… diagnosis for…'
Thankfully we have never had to claim on insurance, so I'm not sure how they would respond to a large-ish claim—so check the reviews re claims made if you wish.
Ask for a discount on the itial quote, often works
Free tip - shop around for ins before you book a week or longer to get prices/info and I think the quotes are good for X days subject to the info provided by you intially still stands NB: They do ask for a "Travel date, ret date..where you is gooing and how long'
JUST MAKE IT UP if you dont have an exact date but get the location right as prices vary massively if you go to USA and certain other nations

Another vote for Staysure here, we have used them for years and had to claim once and they were brilliant which is unusual for an insurance company.

Just a different company to throw in the mix to try, we use insurancewith.com but it's for a few already diagnosed conditions. I think we used Avanti 4 years ago whilst waiting for a confirmed diagnosis.
We also found that this year an anual policy was very similar price to a single trip, worth checking that too.

A few insurers will cover you for anything other than what you are being tested for "and related conditions"… the deal breaker/risk can be what else would be excluded and upfront you wont know because thats how the policy will be worded.
Are the docs considering it may be something other than sleep apnoea?
have you done the home sleep study yet and just awaiting the results? still awaiting the device to do it? jumping straight to a clinical sleep study?
