Morning, thanks Gers. Hope you had a successful day yesterday.
It's a grey start here, coolish, as was yesterday.
I went to Newcastle yesterday to meet up with Dil's mum, we meet every few weeks and have 2 or 3 hours chat, we don't shop unless either of us wants something. I was home by 3.30.
Dh has a neurology appt this morning, and he's hoping that the Dr will tell him he can apply to get his driving licence back. I think there's quite a backlog at the DVLA, we'll see anyway.
Glad you're feeling better Ruby, and thoughts to others who aren't feeling well.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
The sun is just about to break through, it's a bit overcast at the moment - so nice to have the windows open with some cool air coming in. I was very hot last night, there wasn't a breath of wind and about 26 degrees.
The little one and I had another good day, we both had a haircut then scooted (little one scooted, I walked!) down to allotment 2 to water everything and pull up some beetroot for DD. Once we'd had lunch it was back in the paddling pool for an hour until DD came to collect her. She's got the hang of the snorkel and mask and spent ages just floating about. She cried when she was leaving as apparently it had been 'the best 2 days of her entire life'. I'll go and pick her up again this morning and take her home after lunch. I've no doubt we will be dipping again before she goes.
I've a few jobs around the house and garden to do once she goes home, managed to weed the garden yesterday afternoon and cut a few things back, everything has exploded in the garden.
Hoping everyone is well and you have a good day. Take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a cloudy start for us and the temp is supposed to drop for a few days before the heat is back. They say 23 deg, which is quite welcome as I might be able to drag myself out of the lethargic mode I have got into thanks to the heat.
So the Friday Tidy awaits, though I expect it will be a half hearted one. I can ignore the garden now for a day or two as all the sweeping has been done and everything got a good watering yesterday The pots soon dry out in this weather.
I am expecting a delivery from B**ts today. I CBA getting the bus down into town the other day so I did an online order for the stuff I needed instead.. It took it into the free delivery range so I thought why not. .
Have a good day folks if you can, with a wave to the MIA. Take care all, be safe x

Morning stuff almost all done. There's so many parts of me that need lotions or potions these days. Long gone are the days of jumping out of bed, into the shower, into clothes and on with the day. Now I have to pay more attention to my skin and eyes etc. I've also tidied up the very ugly and growing pile of clothes in the bedroom. Not sure how it got so big, anyway, everything put away now.
The trip up to the optician was smooth. Newly re-glazed glasses collected. The chap gave me some free samples of a new (perhaps to only me) manuka oil eyelid wipes and one of tea tree oil wipes too. My home-made efforts are a bit dodgy - cotton pads are quite rough on eyes and I haven't learnt how much tea tree oil to use so sometimes burn my eyes. I'll see how these wipes are, they are expensive however, they are also very large so can be cut up into at least three pieces each which makes a big difference.
Today the horizon is covered in very fine mist and the sky is a rather washed out blue, the sun may break through yet. Forecast is for cooler than earlier in the week.
My fingers are crossed for your DH @ScarletRibbons - I read about someone complaining about the huge backlog in processing medical renewals as they are done manually. How lovely of your little one @camelot1001 - and so funny too! Enjoy being in your garden @TravellingAbuela without doing any work in it.
My thoughts are with our missing folk and hope that they are well, just too busy to drop in. This thread is really hanging on by a thread (sorry) and may well fade away. Can we keep it going?
Hugs to all, have a good Friday. xx

Morning all
Another nice day but a bit cooler than it has been which is nice.
The plumber is finally coming today to fit the new boiler he originally said 2nd week in June and has now cancelled three times 🙄 he did confirm yesterday that he was coming, he is a friend of ours and is doing the job a lot cheaper for us so worth waiting for, I shall be glad to have the new boiler though as ours is making some funny noises.
Our village pond has completely dried up in the heat, a group of villagers have caught and relocated all of the fish and the ducks have moved on (I hope they come back) the parish council are talking about dredging the pond before it fills up again, it’s a beautiful spot so I hope it’s not too long before it’s all done.
Dd and I are off to Asda today to look and some t- shirts for me and home stuff for her, we are very full with all of her house bits but we can squeeze a bit more in I’m sure.
Have good days all and take care xx

How fabulous of the villagers rescuing the fish and ducks @RedRuby1231.
I forgot to add that yesterday I became engrossed in 'I, Jack Wright', it's so well written, performed and filmed. What a delightful antidote to all the football programmes.

Morning all from Mehefinland
Just a quick one as much to do. Funeral of my friend this pm which I am not looking forward to-2pm at church, then 4 pm at crem…It will be a big funeral as she worked for the Church in Wales for a time and her OH still does -itsounds like there are a lot of high ranking clergy attending .I thin though I shall give the crematorium a miss - too many memories at this time of year ( 2yrs since I lost Dawn on 1st August).
Trying to sort out details for our library 10th anniversary barn dance at the moment. Posters and tickets etc. Got a bit of time yet but the sooner it is 'out there' the better in my opinion.
Keep cool if you can. Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek

sorry everyone I have been missing for too long though have read every day ( not good enough I know )
Been trying to process some not good news from the back MRI but we have a bit of a plan now
Basically my spine is crumbling ,the vertebrae are soft ,spongy ,some discs have slipped .my spine is crooked etc
In the meantime the hip mri ( nhs ) has still not been reviewed !
Has taken awhile to process all of it
Theonly thing that might help my back is a spinal steroid/ local anaesthetic inj ( just under £3k or a 15 month wait ! )
After long discussions with my son and my wonderful GP I’m in the process of booking one ,also gp has started me on a fierce drug which does seem to be helping.
Sorry if too much info ,I have been v down ,even googled that well known place in Switzerland that’s really expensive too ,pretty sure there’s o way I’d go
I have been following your ups and downs so thank you
Taking a friend for an appointment this morning and then off to yet another memorial service and wake
Will try and post daily again
Thankful for good friends and family

Morning all. Stuffy in the house but rather cool when I opened the patio doors this morning. This has been a pattern for the last few days, as then we have warm sunshine from lunchtime onwards.
Super evening out last night as I offered to chauffeur DH to a local mass Morris event called the Toddington Tour. There used to be 7 pubs in the village and the sides would dance at each one but for the past few years it's been down to 3. There were 9 Morris sides there, split into smaller groups and then a mass finale at the pub by the village green. I saw lots of people I've known over the years and had catch up chats and it was only a 20 minute drive, albeit 2 junctions down the M1.
Today I must do some ironing and then we are meeting with 2 other couples for a pub lunch, about 40 mins from us. I've now chatted with another friend who's had a dental implant. It seems so many people have had them done without problems!
Anyway, off to get going now. Have a good day everyone.
