I think the OP's scenarios are confusing.

To clarify: I sell and buy on eBay and buy on Vinted.

Scenario 1: the OP does not make clear if this is Vinted or eBay. If eBay, the OP is wrong. The funds are available as soon as the item is dispatched. If Vinted, I don't understand why - if the buyer has said they are happy with the item - the funds are returned to the buyer. This has never happened to me.

Scenario 2: On eBay and Vinted, the price is clearly stated as is the buyer's fee and postage. I can't the OP's issue.

Scenario 2.1:What does the OP mean by 'transfer fee'? That is not a term that I have come across on eBay or Vinted.

Scenario 3: You can sell candles on eBay. User error on making a duplicate listing. Did the OP query non-payment with eBay?

Scenario 4: 'some years ago'. What proof does the OP have that this is still happening?

As for this:

I disagree that it's financial abuse towards the OP.

Sex of the seller (and buyer) is irrelevant. In my 20+ years of buying and selling on eBay I have rarely encountered aggression.

You don't have to have a photo of yourself on either eBay or Vinted. So why would you?

You’re either incredibly unlucky or you don’t really know what you’re doing. I suspect it’s the latter. I’ve sold professionally on eBay for years, hundreds of thousands of items, and I don’t think I’ve had as many issues as you. Some of those issues I’m not even familiar with and it seems more like a lack of understanding on your part leading to you dealing with them incorrectly.

I have some sympathy with the OP. I occasionally sell stuff on ebay and I really don't feel confident I know my way round the system.

What do you find confusing?

I just hit 'sell an item', fill in the 'required' boxes, upload photos and let eBay decide on the postage cost.

But I only sell clothes, shoes and jewellery.

I don't have to check if an item is prohibited.

For example, I sold something for collecting by the buyer. That meant downloading the ebay app, so that I could scan a QR code that the buyer brought along. That is completely straightforward if you are doing dozens of transactions a week, but a bit of a learning curve just to do one. I also seem to remember that the interface for scanning the code was buried deep within the menu structure of the app.

Plus, the other day I wanted to message the seller before initiating a return, but I couldn’t manage that. So, I initiated the return and then the messages came through. Weird.

All my sales are postage only as I don't want people coming to my door.

And I have had very few returns in my 20+ years of selling as I don't accept returns for change of mind and my descriptions and photos are extremely descriptive so there is very little chance of SNADs.

Be warned though, sellers need to choose a weight and appropriate size for Simple delivery, don't let ebay just opt for the last used option. I was selling a few small items which were small parcel up to 1kg, I then listed some very heavy oversized items and it still showed as small parcel, and I had to change them to medium up to 2kg.

Likewise I did accidently leave a large letter postage option on an item that was far too large for LL, luckily I noticed when potential buyer asked a question and I had to change it (by re listing) to a small parcel.

Agree with the above; double-check it. Don't assume eBay AI bots got it correct.

Ebay doesn't always get the postage right. Some of my items are pencil thickness so large letter but Ebay always recommends letter size at 91p so I always have to change what they are recommending.
