AET and Autistic Child

Hi All

My Daughter is about to have her assessment for autism after years of wait. Once she has had the assessment and depending on there judgement how will this affect our universal credit. My partner is currently subject to the AET of £991 which is difficult with reduced hours she can work as although my daughter is 13 she cannot be left at home alone or come home alone from school etc. Depending on the assessment result could my partners threshold for earnings be reduced to take some strain off? I am self employed so my earnings do not count towards my partners earnings.

Anyone in a similar position and have any experience

If your daughter can’t be left alone, does she already get DLA - which is possible even without the formal label although more difficult.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.

If Daughter is awarded middle rate or higher care DLA, then your partner can report change under Children option confirming DLA is now awarded . And also report caring for someone under report change option. Effective date would be date of DLA award.

If caring verified then your partner would have no work related requirements and therefore no expected work hours or earnings.
