PanasonIc TV bought from Amazon in 2023 now faulty in less than 3 years
Hi all. I bought a YV from Amazon in September 2023 and it is now faulty and is stuck in a 'boot loop' flashing Device Storage nearly full. I cannot access any settings or TV on it. I contacted Amazon this morning and they have told me the warranty ran out in September 2025 and the responsibility now lies with the Manufacturer. I told Amazon thisd was incorrect under UK Consumer Rights and they explained their policy cannot override this. They told me it can and sent me a link to contact Panasonic who basically told me it is not their problem. What are my options as both are washing their hands of this. Thanks

The good news is that you're correct that retailers can't override statutory obligations with policies.
The bad news is that in order to enforce any such consumer rights you may have, the onus is on you (after six months) to demonstrate that the TV was faulty (even if latent) at the time of sale, e.g. a manufacturing flaw, etc - this will typically entail getting it inspected by an independent technician who's prepared to write a report to that effect.

Proving it is a manufaturing flaw would be difficult wouldn't it?

That would depend on many factors - you'll probably need someone like a TV repair person to answer that. (e.g. is it a known issue iwth this particular brand/model of TV?). If you look up a local repair person they may be willing to answer that initial question before coming to look at the TV.

I don't know, but that's effectively the benchmark for holding the retailer liable, in that consumer rights aren't intended to act as some sort of extended warranty.

I assume the TV doesn't have any 'storage' as such, i.e. no inbuilt recording or catch up functions

You don't identify the model but my daughter's Panasonic TV has a Usb socket for a pen drive she can record to and play back from. Do you have a device plugged into that socket?

No this model only allows playback not PVR

It has 8GB of storage and 4-5GB is taken up by the OS. Nothing else is on there I've also uninstalled a few apps we don't use.

I've emailed a complaint which they said they won't share the resolution to I have the call recorded, all 28 mins across three advisors. I'll update with the response should I get one if anyone is interested?

There is often a way to reset TVs using the buttons on the set/remote.
Unfortunately, stopped making TVs themselves some time ago. So you TV could be rebadged from another make or if it's at the premium end made to Panasonic's specification in China.
So we can't say how to reset the TV, but if you give us the model number or post over in the techie section we might be able to help.
