British Gas Switch isn't happening - feels like a right mess.
I switched to British Gas on the 23 June 2026 via MSE. I asked for the 14 day cooling off period, which should have ended on the 7th July. It's now 14th July and I've heard nothing. I have no contact details for British Gas and when I re-read my switching email from MSE it basically washed its hands of taking any responsibility and said if I don't hear anything, to contact British Gas. I have no contact details for British Gas - can't find any details their website other than saying 'ask for a quote' and I've no idea who to contact at MSE. It's a mess. Anybody got any ideas of where I can call?

It sounds like you haven't switched at all.
Have you looked at how the deals currently on offer compare to the one you tried to join on the 23rd? You might find prices have changed in your favour.

Thanks - when I look on to the MSE app it says switch in progress so it seems like I did do the right things to start the process. Just heard nothing since. I signed up to it because of a MSE deal which meant it was cheaper than what was being offered by my current provider to renew with them. My current fixed plan runs out on the 31st July. Sods law I renew with my current provider and everything kicks off and then my current provider charges me £150 for leaving! I would assume I've already gone past the point of no return as I've gone well past my 14 day cooling off period.

So, you don't need to renew with your current provider if you're planning to switch away. You'll automatically move onto their standard variable tariff at the end of your current fix, and that has no exit fees. It's probably not quite as cheap as a fix but if it's only for a week or two it won't make a huge difference.

If British Gas received your switch request, they would normally have been in touch by now. I suspect something went wrong in the switching process and BG didn't receive your application.

Take it as a sign.
Don't switch to British Gas. This forum is full of tales of woe and their billing system is antiquated.
