@RumRat - I had thought of that but wondered if it would just get nicked but I suppose it could be screwed to it - same as the other one is attached, I think?

@debitcardmayhem - why an external camera INSIDE? I couldn't have it attached to the wall outside

    Thanks :)

Would a camera inside the window be triggered by movement outside ? My outdoor Blink camera that I have sitting on the windowsill inside does not trigger.

@RumRat Thanks for the suggestion. I will certainly look into that if I get a doorbell at a later date :)

@molerat I don't know if it is your camera but I know that certain ones can work.

Anyone else noticed that the last two comments have been from 'rats' 🤣- though obviously very kind ones for replying.

UPDATE: I have purchased a Tapo C110 camera and got it successfully set up on my windowsill and it is picking up motion and people okay. I have it set to 'daylight mode' otherwise it just shows the camera reflection.

I have put a micro sd card in it to record locally, not to the Cloud.

To reduce data I have changed the video quality to 720p, set it up for Detection and Alerts only, not continuous recording, and created a Detection Zone to prevent false triggers. I have reduced the sensitivity on Motion alerts.

    NEW questions:

Do people leave them in 'live' view all the time because if I switch it to 'privacy mode' it doesn't record or send Alerts at all but I am worried about any excess usage (shared internet with family) if it is on 24/7 but obviously it needs to be, to be truly effective?

I did try googling first but just got confused as usual by all the terminology, ha ha.

I think it said I wouldn't use anything to view the camera using the wi-fi at home and recording locally to sd card but that it would record to the Cloud if away from home, and consume about 15mb to 25mb of data for every minute that I watch it?

Is this correct? and if so, what is the best/cheapest way to keep receiving alerts if away from home?

Basically I just want to be able to get alerts on my phone, whether at home or away, and be able to instantly see the live result.

    Thanks :)

Same one as me. I'm quite happy with it. I also have the H200 hub which is where the re ording goes to & it also acts as an upstairs chime.
