CPP (pre 2005) now ending - need advice

I've been notified that my CPP is ending for good and that I've had it since 2002. Since being notified I've only just read (a lot) about all the miss-selling etc and that was back in 2013. I 'think' it might have been M&S, but don't think I have any original paperwork. Feel a bit of a fool that I kept renewing it every 3 years, thinking I needed it. The links don't work on the archived pages. Can I do something about this?
