Faulty gas meter

You say £100 or per month extra.
How long have you had the new meter?
Do the new bills correlate with the old bills as in gas used not price but units used if possible.
As others mentioned check the new meter for ft or metre and what does the photo of the old meter show as the in ft or metre?
EDIT. What are your old bills and new bill after new meter fitted in are they the same like cu. Ft or cu.m but until you tell us what the old meter was then we will have better understanding.

Remember that the "independent" meter check proves only that they are now unable to find a fault with the meter. That does not prove that the meter was reading correctly when in place.
It does mean that you should check for alternative explanations as suggested previously.
