I wonder if anyone has done a price comparison on a large area - using x kWh boiling kettles versus the price of a bottle of weed killer.

A bottle of weedkiller is not kind to the environment, and will leave the area polluted.

Back in the 70s we did car sharing and it was officially patrolled to reduce pollution and in the 80s grand parents said they would stop traveling abroad to save the planet for their children.

However I've tried 2 weedkillers which I've sprayed and painted on my front path but neither have worked. I'm going to try boiling water next.

Boiling water works. The plants shrivel and die. But of course they come back, so the boiling water has to be a routine treatment. But at least it is pet-friendly and doesn't leave toxix chemicals to soak into the ground.

Simple question: Are you aware of how the weedkillers available to home gardeners react in contact with soil, and what are the residues which most concern you?
