M & S reward credit card

We have had a m & s credit card for some years. (and 2 others- all low limits - our choice because we use them for shopping and pay in full) I see that now there is one that comes with 36 coffees a year! I checked soft eligibility and it said "approved" by m& s, tesco and others. Then it showed "not approved by the same ones! Go figure! So, we are retired, not a big income, if I contact them and ask to "upgrade" to the card with rewards will they do a credit check? If we do not meet criteria how long will the "failed" stay on our file please? TIA

You say "we have had a m&s credit card" and talk of "our" file.

Credit cards are never joint products (nor are credit reference files), are you referring to a secondary card holder?

The "free coffee" deal is part of an add-on (M&S Club Rewards) that you can subscribe to for £10/mth if you have any M&S credit card. They return the sub as vouchers during the year and there are other perks.

Shouldn't need a new application or credit check.

"We" have had the M&S card for years with the Club Rewards…..straightforward to obtain.

The drinks vouchers are a useful benefit - and since the reward deal has been revised the 4 x £25 annual vouchers are very attractive - £120 per year in fees = £100 for clothing etc.

    A nice little earner.

The scheme returns £120/yr in vouchers (£100 clothes, £20 food)

    What is Club Rewards?

M&S Club Rewards is a subscription service exclusively available to M&S Credit Card holders. For £10 a month, the benefits include:

Earn an additional 2 points per £1 spent at M&S

£120 in M&S vouchers across the year

32 hot drink vouchers which can be used in M&S Cafés throughout the year

    A treat on your birthday

Which file are you referring to? If you mean you files with the CRA's, it doesn't. Refusals are not recorded.

Don't the hot drinks vouchers come in equal quarterly mailings annually = 4 x 8, with a use by date ?

    Yes.

We always used them but the local M&S only food closed the cafe to provide more cold storage for Christmas and didn't reopen. Really unhelpful.

That's happening in quite a few M&S stores, fortunately our nearest has a large food hall so the cafe which is upstairs is in no danger - allegedly !!!

I think M&S sales and profits from their food sections are now outstripping that of their clothes ranges.
