Struggling to use Kindle
When I try to open a Kindle book on my PC, it says I require an update Click here to download the free version (Windows 10, Windows 11)
The version I have is Amazon Kindle 1.35.064251 06/05/26
Then I have a selection of sites to download from. Google play, Apple, microsoft etc yet it never updates it, some versions seem to want to update my tablet not giving a PC option.
If I go to microsoft store it says 'latest version installed' then it says parental guidance recommended with an open option. I open and download it, then after I close it and start up again, the whole downloading procedure needs to be repeated.
This is the first time I've used Kindle since windows was installed on my my computer, so I'm not sure if it's something to do with that.

I'd like to help but I've just hit my first Windows app that won't run on my ARM powered laptop!
Bit odd but unless I just can't see it, the MS Store description for the app does not include the version number (but does say it was last updated on 07/07/26).
Could you use the browser reader "https://read.amazon.co.uk/kindle-library"
What did you have on your computer before Windows?

It sounds as if you may be mixing up the old Kindle for PC desktop app, the newer Microsoft Store Kindle app, and the phone/tablet app links.
I would avoid downloading Kindle from any third-party site. First uninstall the Kindle app(s) you currently have, restart the PC, then install it from either Amazon’s official Kindle apps page or directly from the Microsoft Store, but not both.
If you use the Microsoft Store version and it keeps going through the same “download/update/open” loop, try this:
Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Kindle > Advanced options > Reset
If that does not work, uninstall Kindle from there, restart, then reinstall it.
The “parental guidance recommended” message is just the Microsoft Store age/content rating for the app. It is not saying your Kindle account or books are restricted.
After reinstalling, sign back into your Amazon account and re-download the books from your Kindle library.

Yeah thanks I'll use that. I just found the prompt to download every time very annoying.
