DCB Legal Court Process
Hi. Hopefully, I am coming to the end of this process myself with DCB Legal (MET Parking) but have a query related to the same car park and the process that DCB Legal are required to follow.
My son in-law also parked at Southgate Park, Stansted in 2024. The same process happened to a point but then correspondance stopped. It hadn't gone legal but DCB Legal had his email address after he had contacted them to appeal to their better nature 😂
Anyway, long story short - he changed address and recieved no further letters/forms.
A couple of months ago he found that he had a CCJ on his credit file due to DCBL obviously having no response. He contacted them about 6 weeks ago to query why they didn't contact him as they had his email address. They didn't reply for a couple of weeks then when they did they said they could get this 'set aside' if he paid the money due etc etc. He replied to state that he wasn't going to pay the money, as it was this that he was contesting and could they reword the Consent Order to reflect this. It has been about a month or so now and still no reply.
Short of going directly to the court to get this set aside (i.e. paying the fee), is there anything furthher he can do to get the CCJ removed and get DCBL's !!!!!! kicked for not using all avenues to keep my son in-law up to speed on the process.

There may have been a way to settle this out of court, preferably if he had come here as soon as he knew about the CCJ
DCBL are just powerless debt collectors, no kicking is involved, or required
Dcb legal are regulated by the SRA, but I don't think that he can get anything done about them either
The Focus should be on getting a set aside at the lowest possible cost, not revenge

Cheers Gr1pr. I didn't mean to exact revenge…more to get out of this without DCBL getting financial benefit and getting the CCJ removed.

DCBL wont be making any money out of it as long as the defendant doesn't pay them any money
Its DCB LEGAL ( on behalf of their client parking company. ) that should be the focus of the set aside
I think that he has been corresponding with DCB LEGAL, not DCBL

Clearly, although a bit late now, he needs to advise the claimant and the solicitors of his correct address for service and require his old date to be ERASED.

Agreed
It was the not informing Met Parking DPO, DCBL and subsequently DCB LEGAL of the move to a new address that led to this debacle, although perhaps DCB LEGAL should have traced the new address before issuing the court claim on behalf of theirclient ( so faults on both sides IMHO. )

What is the date of the CCJ?

Hi. Thanks for your input.
DCB Legal have said that their client is offering to accept a reduced amount for the Consent Order fee (and a small settlement) - £200 all in. He is going to accept this to get it cleared. Shame, as I'm sure we'd like to see this drawn out and them get nothing at the end of it.
Thanks for help anyway.

So £129 application court fee (no hearing) and £71 for the PCN. Not terrible, I get it … and no profit for them as the claim cost £35!
