British Gas switch confusion

OP, we did have a few shenanigans with BG when we first moved into our house, but gotta say after the first couple of months it was fine. We're still with them 2 years later and had no more issues. They treat gas and electric as 2 accounts. We do have smart meters and we've actually switched fixed deals about 4 times in 2 years within BG to save money. They also offer half price electricity on Sunday afternoons and adhoc times which you can only get with a smart meter of course. Billing has been fine throughout. They did put our DD up by £2 a month more than I reckon they need to but I let it go.

One advantage of a smart meter is that past readings are kept on record, rather than written on post-it notes then discarded. If you don't want a smart meter then you really should make a photographic record of your meter readings.
