Landline only for elderly relative

Dear hive mind

My elderly mother only needs a landline but also has an emergency call alarm and I'm struggling to find a provider who will do this easily before the changeover in November. Mum has her new digital alarm box which works atm. I've been asking her Housing Association to sort this out for the past couple of years but nothing has happened.

If anyone can recommend a provider who does landline only which is compatible with a digital emergency alarm I would be really grateful.

Many thanks

A lot of "lifeline" systems now use the mobile network, so don't require a landline at all - you do of course need a reasonable mobile network signal, but it doesn't matter which network it is, as they detect the strongest and use that.

I believe BT still offer a landline only service, which will actually be VOIP (or digital voice) and it will work with an adapter to an existing handset.

Who supplies the current landline only (no broadband) telephone service ?

BT phone only customers are changing to a PDPL line , that doesn’t need broadband, so no router , no power supply issues , to all intents and purposes it’s the same as a PSTN line apart from the full national number needs to be used for outgoing calls , if uts not BT you will need to ask whoever it us that provides service .

If it’s not BT , and you think PDPL may be a good choice , it’s only for existing phone only BT customers no new customers can join BT for this product.
