I have an ongoing personal injury claim being dealt with a solicitors and they have just notified me that they are pulling out of that market and advise me that they can introduce me to another insurance firm.

What should I be aware of?

Dear [Removed by Forum Team]

I am writing to share an important update about NewLaw and what it means for your case.

Due to various challenges in the personal injury market, NewLaw has assessed the viability of continuing to offer legal services. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to withdraw from the personal injury market. While this was not an easy choice, we believe it is the right one for the long term.

In making this decision, we have kept at the forefront of our minds what this means for you as one of our existing clients, and how we find a solution that continues to protect your best interests.

With that in mind, we have engaged with Recovery First Limited, a third-party specialist that supports firms looking to exit markets, enabling this to be controlled and managed effectively and efficiently. Importantly, this ensures that clients continue to receive the right ongoing expert advice and protections they need to progress their claims.

Recovery First work with a trusted network of specialist firms across the UK to manage personal injury claims through to conclusion. Moving the work allows cases to continue to be supported responsibly and consistently, while enabling us to take the next step in exiting the personal injury market.

We have already shared this decision with our colleagues, and our focus now is on supporting both our clients and our team thoughtfully and respectfully as we wind down the business over the coming months.

What this means for you

You currently have an open case with NewLaw, and we want to give you a clear choice about what happens next.

We can introduce you to MMA Legal Limited .
MMA Legal Limited are a well- respected and experienced professional law firm. Like NewLaw, they are regulated by the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority (SRA) and hold appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance in line with the SRA requirements.

We confirm there will be no change to the terms on which you originally instructed NewLaw to pursue your case.

If we currently hold any client monies on your behalf, please be reassured that these will continue to be held safely and securely. As an SRA-regulated law firm, MMA Legal Limited is required to follow the same SRA Account Rules as NewLaw.

If you are happy for your case to be transferred you do not need to take any action, it will be automatically transferred from 14th July 2026.

If you would prefer to move to a different firm rather than MMA Legal Limited please advise us by 13th July 2026.

You always have the right to choose who represents you. This remains the case even if you initially agree to transfer to an expert team in the Recovery First network but later decide that they aren’t right for you.

Please be aware that any new solicitor, other than MMA Legal Limited will set their own terms and fees, which may differ from those you originally agreed with us. You may also need to cover any costs already incurred on your case to date.

Please note that after 13th July 2026 we will no longer be able to act for you and no further work will be carried out on your claim. If you therefore wish to instruct an alternative solicitor, it’s important you do this as soon as possible.

Whether you agree to transfer or wish to instruct alternative solicitors
Please be aware that from 13th July 2026 you will no longer have access to your client portal. So please make sure:

From 13th July 2026 you do not upload any further documents to your client portal, and

By 13th July 2026 you have downloaded any documents that are important and/or you still want to access.

If you want to choose an alternative firm but you are unsure where to start, the Law Society of England and Wales can help you find a suitable firm:
