Why so much anti-laptop sentiment?

Just install Linux Mint

How does that help with vigorous key bashing?

Same way "just buy a Mac" does.

I think it was tongue in cheek. Some on this forum consider Linux (particularly Mint flavoured) to be the answer to all known computer problems! Others don't…….

Thanks, but the anti-laptopping happens even if you are not typing, or make the slightest "click" every 5 mins when you press "enter".
In the public domain this is a massive thing….laptop hatred is strong and growing.

But oddly, no one else seems to have experienced the rage??

Unfortunately, no matter where ones mind/memory is rooted, the rest of the world has moved on.

faringdonPosts:171ForumiteDoes any one know what is going
on with this "anti-laptop" thing?
Go on any train, or any waiting room, and make the slightest keyboard click
and people go nuts...they start stamping their feet , or whatever , repeatedly in kind of "revenge noise".
I mean, the other day, I was in M&S Cafe near Southampton, and I was on my laptop...running
an electronics simulation, I wasn't even typing, was making no noise. Then the bloke on the next table greeted
his mate, and said...look we've even got a guy on a laptop for you, pointing to me....and he immediately started stamping his feet in quicktime...
...the other day, I was on a train on my laptop, and a guy said. hey up, we've got a laptop over there....and they were
going on out loud about "idiots with laptops...and "why on earth he has to be on his laptop on Friday evening anyway".Even at work...if anyone starts typing, somebody else in the office starts "revenge tapping" on the table.I was in the British Library the other day, and a guy was typing….and the noise was driving a person mad, and they started shouting, "shutup" "shutup".Surely we can accept that typing is a totally necessary thing for the working world? How can anyone find the sound irritating? What's going on?Comments of the nature the OP describes must be very rare - even if people think along the lines suggested, most will bite their tongue.
For the OP to be on the receiving end of such comments on a regular basis one has to assume that, even if the OP is entirely unaware, their keyboard (or mouse) does make a noise at a volume and nature of noise that causes irritation to others. Some times it is the actual keyboard that has a bearing on things, or the age of the keyboard - I have just bought myself a Dell "silent" keyboard and it is truly silent in use, so much so that my previous Dell "silent" keyboard which is 3 years old sounds noticeably loud by comparison. It must have been just as silent when new and I had never noticed the increasing clicking as it developed. £40 very well spent for the new keyboard 😊

That's a really good shout! If OP is getting these comments he must be the common denominator lol. Imagine if OP is the teaching assistant I worked with back in the day 😂… some ppl are oblivious to the noise they make.

Here's an idea for the OP.
Leave the laptop at home/work and use a tablet or phone when out and about.
As long as you turn off keyclicks for the onscreen keyboard then the tryping is silent - and there is no mouse clicking.
