Legacy income related ESA
A close friend that is on the above benefit (and has been for many years due to an acquired brain injury) that is possibly in line for income from a rental property of approximately £13000 has asked me how much will this income affect his benefits.
As far as I am aware the reduction is on a sliding scale from 6 to 16 thousand but exactly how much his benefit will be affected I am unable to work out, please help.

Income Related ESA has ended and been replaced by Universal Credit. If he was on IR ESA he should have received a migration letter and been migrated over.
Any ESA in payment now should be New Style ESA which is Contributions Based & not impacted by income, other than pensions.
If his payment is £291.80 a fortnight then he gets NS ESA.

Thanks for that, I have just checked and he does get £291.80 a fortnight so he is glad to hear that his benefit will not be affected.
Now all he has to worry about is the Local Authority taking a big slice from it to pay for his residential care costs.0
