Hi I changed most of the bulbs in the flat to high energy and had them at a bargain price at homebase, it worked out at 76p a bulb. They were £4.98 each in b+q, but I failed to get high energy bulbs for my chandelier 5 screw candle bulbs and also failed for my kitchen light 3 screw spotlights in 1 fitting so are they available yet ? if so where ? I hope someone can help thanks. Viv

    Hi

Try these. They are a little expensive but after what we are being told is to happen with fuel prices then it is probably still a wise investment.

If you contact your local electrical stockists (the ones electricians use) then you might just get them a little cheaper. I did this when I replaced my halogen lights.

    Good luck.

I have the candle megaman bulbs whilt they are about £5 each they are good. We use 5 in living room (could have done with getting higher rating though due to dark panelled ceiling) and 3 in dining room (they are fine in there as ceiling is white) Our electric bill did go down but gobe back up due to darkening nights and larger tv.

I found that my local electrical supplier who are nationwide, edmundson-electrical are cheaper than many of the online stores when you take into account postage

Hi, I have come across a company who specialise in LED Tube Lights. Yes the initial purchase is more expensive but they contain no mercury and the energy savings are fantastic. I have fitted out my office with these tubes and energy savings are around 70%. I have worked out that my investment will be returned in 18 months from energy savings alone and these LED Tubes last 5 times longer.

If you have a B&Q near you then they do the Energy Saving spot lights for the kitchen off the shelf, assuming they are the large ones I am thinking of, but the are £19 ish for one so very expensive, but there are other cheaper suppliers if your willing to look (as earlier posts)
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

Did a trial on one of these at work.

We had a normal tube fitting and then next to it a led one, both on pir in a walk way and both on calibrated power meters and we found that the led one was using more power over a week and the light ouput was cr&p.

Not at work at the moment so dont have figures with me.
