Those brackets look to be fairly meaty, unlike the bent bits of metal one gets with the cheaper ones. But I would bin the wall plugs & screws and use longer ones so that you know they are gripping brick rather than just plaster (one reason for driving the plugs in ~12mm below the surface).

22°!!! The doors are wide open, windows everything, it is 29° downstairs, 5.5m long living room covered in sun rays, have to lift my feet off the ground to avoid the sun. I'm south east

Technical bits aside, I wouldn't go for the biggest possible curtains - they won't make the doors look bigger, they'll make the wall look smaller. IMO.

In hot weather it is advised to keep external doors and windows closed during the day ( say from 10.30 to 18.00 ) as the air outside will be hotter than inside. Plus of course curtains & blinds closed on the sunny side of the house.

I am also SE and yesterday the temperature in most of the house never went above 25 degrees.

You'd be surprised. This house is way hotter than outside if I keep it closed, around 2 degrees. I remember coming from Cromer once, it was 33 degrees outside, the house was 34, I nearly fainted.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this DIY. I would have used 4mm screws and messed it up 😁

😂 😂 Listen it's a hose ban area, the grass can't do this much heat... Maybe next year I'll install water sprinkler! 😅

Also, they're thermal curtains, will do keeping the heating bill down 😅

A water sprinkler will still be covered under a hose pipe ban. You could dig a big hole and install a rain/grey water storage tank (they come in a variety of sizes) and use that for watering the garden.
