Carpetbagging

Hi there
This is my first post but, as a newly retired person, I suspect it will not be my last.
I need some advice on some BS accounts I opened years ago in the hope of getting free shares if the BS converted. My husband and I currently each hold an account in the following:
Alliance & Leicester
Bradford & Bingley
Nationwide
Northern Rock
Woolwich
Yorkshire
I've lost track of which ones have already converted and which haven't and, although we only have £150 each in each of the above accounts, I would really like to consolidate our savings and close the accounts that are no longer worth keeping open.
Can anyone confirm that Alliance & Leicester, Bradford & Bingley and Northern Rock are the ones to close and that we should only keep the Nationwide, Northern Rock and Yorkshire open.

Woolwich is part of Barclays. Alliance & Leicester, Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley have also ceased to be mutuals. That leaves you with Nationwide and Yorkshire.
Did you get the benefits of your carpet-bagging with the four? Did you keep your shares?0 -

Yes, we got shares from all of them but sold the A&L and Northern Rock, although I can't remember when or for how much. I know we bought a new car from the proceeds having to add only a small sum from our savings. We still have B&B and Barclay shares (which I'd forgotten came from the Woolwich). So, I'll hang on to Nationwide and Yorkshire and close the others.
Thanks for the help.Never Underestimate the power of a purr!0
