Should I buy travel insurance AFTER baby is born?

Hi everyone, I know the golden rule is to get travel insurance ASAB but am currently 38 weeks pregnant and wondering if it’s better to wait until after the baby is born to buy travel insurance as I’m not sure how adding them to the policy would work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! We fly next April. Thanks!

I don't recall seeing a question about pregnancy in travel insurances (doesn't mean they don't exist, it varies from company to company). The terms and conditions are likely to stipulate that you let them know if you will be pregnant during the travel (sounds like you won't), but on the forms I don't recall seeing that question.

What question the form you're filling is asking?

Even if they asked, they're looking for your situation at the time of travel.

no buy insurance now to cover any medical needs that may result in you needing to cancel before baby is born. Add the baby later.

I think the question is whether it is best to buy a family policy with the baby after the baby is born or buy without the baby now, which may result in a different premium (or even a different company being cheaper) and then adding the baby once born. Adding the baby may incur an admin charge, it may mean a repricing of the policy.

As it's only a week or so away, it's probably simpler to wait rather than adjust the policy to add the child.

Thank you, seems to be a bit of division on best way to proceed but it looks like it might be better to wait then… just not sure how much energy I’ll have to research this with a newborn initially!

Could you do some research now while waiting in the heat. Congratulations by the way!
