Bionic - Avoid!!

Bionic energy broker have auto-renewed my gas contract with Yu Energy and awarded themselves an £800 commision, for me staying on the same contract with the same company.

They claim this is fair and proportionate, and that I agreed to them doing it (by not reading an email they sent).

Ombudsman is a joke.

Stay far far away from Bionic.

by not reading an email they sent

so you acknowledge they sent it and you did not read it. QED

  • So if I send you an email that somewhere said if you don't reply to this you owe me £800 then you'd be happy to pay that if you missed it?

6 months ahead of the contract renewal?

what I said was you admit you did NOT read it

reading and not reacting to an email is not the same as reacting after the event to something you did not read warning you what was coming

They are getting the commission for the energy company not from you. I have used them in the past, but dispensed with their services when more websites came online that could compare business utility tariffs. If you read their small print, they require 6 months notice to totally cancel their services, though you can decline their renewal offering if you find better yourself.

They are just energy brokers for businesses (mainly). That is a legitimate service. The rules now require them to declare their commissions, but the commission comes from the energy companies. If you try and get the same deal direct you will more than likely fail as a lot of their tariff deals are broker only arrangements. Doesn’t mean you can’t get a better deal by going direct, but sometimes they do work out cheaper.
