Australia trip suggestion for 4 Week accommodation Gold Coast
Hi, I'm hopefully heading off to Australia to visit my son for 4-5 weeks Sept/October this year.
He doesn't have space to put me up so I have been looking for places to stay within walking distance of where he lives.
I have looked at AirBnB , cosycozy.com, Booking.com and Expedia.
Are there any obvious platforms that I have missed? And / Or any top tips to reduce the prices
I'm looking for Palm Beach, Gold, Coast Queensland Area
A good land mark is Coles Supermarket Palm Beach.
I am 70 and fit and happy to have a 30 min walk

At the risk of asking the obvious question, isn't he able and willing to research this for you?

Have you checked the Real Estate agents, holiday lettings? That's what I use to stay over. But I looked for the names of small agents in the area and searched those - not Google where the big boys come up for pages. Smaller apartments and more reasonable.
If you look away from the beach area you can find some good prices on holiday accommodation.
I also looked at caravans at a park.
Using the tourist information centre will throw up more smaller rentals.
Walking is easy in the Aussie climate at this time of year. Lots of cafes for a sit down but the buses are good too.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

😅😆 I didn't want to be a nuisance 🙄
and he is renowned for leaving things to the last minute…. I just need a bit of certainty and choice.
Plus he's working long days on a 3 week shift in the outback with poor connections.
I just thought that I could ask the kind folk on MSE if they had any knowledge about such things.
Thanks twopenny I will check the Real Estate Agents - I have been looking away from the beach on AirBnB but there are very few for the length of time that I want to stay. maybe I should look for shorter times and stay at a few places.

We stayed beachfront in Currumbin, close to the wildlife sanctuary. I just checked the price of the accommodation, currently from AU$539 nightly. So likely not suitable.
Even modest accommodation will set you back two to three grand.

Have you thought about Hostels or Couchsurfing?

Thank you SammyBoyd I did look on AirBnB before posting and thought that they were too pricey - BUT your suggestions has made me look again and, this time I put my approx dates in and, saw that a big discount appeared as I would be booking a long stay. There is a long cancelation window too which also helps.
Thank you
TheMilkmansDad Couch surfing isn't a bad idea. My son might have some friends that are going away - worth asking.
