Car repair under warranty - unreasonable delays?
Purchased s/h car from large main dealer (my make of car is not the same make they deal in). 3 month warranty. Within a week discovered fault with air conditioning. Issue clearly there before purchase as was checked for leaks and re-gassed before I took it away. Took car back - re-gassed again and sent away - obviously still same. Take car back again a week later - issue is evaporator - and it has now been in garage for approaching 6 weeks as mechanic who dismantled it has gone off sick and the garage say that it cannot be moved as currently in bits, and it has to be put back together by the same person as they only have one person who can work on my make of car . Poor communication throughout. Escalated to manager - has advised mechanic due back today and will be fixed. (During all of this they realised last week no one has actually ordered the part so part has literally arrived in last few days)
My issue - I have raised that the car has been with them for half of the warranty period, and therefore when it expires in a couple of weeks time, it doesn't feel acceptable to me that the car hasn't been in my possession for the whole warranty period. The manager didn't seem to understand my point - am I being unreasonable to expect some sort of extension or other goodwill gesture? Just to add they have given me a courtesy car for the time they have had my car.

I'd be rejecting the car.
You've given them more than enough time to repair.
What does their policy say about rejection?

Did you pay for the warranty?
Is the courtesy car notably poorer than the car you bought?

no I didn’t pay for the warranty. The courtesy car is brand new and the car I bought is 7 years old.
my issue is that if I reject then I don’t have a car. Not sure how long it takes to get your money back…. I haven’t seen anything in the warranty doc about rejection.0 -
You've got a new courtesy car so aren't putting miles on your car. Not quite sure what the problem is if you have a better car available instead. Rejection over a/c fault seems a bit overkill on a 7yo car

yes I don’t dispute I have a replacement car, i was asking if anyone would be concerned that on a s/h car I’ve missed out on half of warranty period by not being able to drive the car as it’s in for repair.

I would be grateful I was putting miles on their car rather than mine.

Who is the dealer……they sound really good to deal with and should be praised

No I wouldn't be concerned at all. As said I would be pleased that I'd had less wear and tear on my car by using the alternative they provided.

Warranty doc's wont have anything about rejection. As rejection is a consumer right within 30 days.
TBH, you are lucky to have a temp car, as many warranties will say that no temp car is provided.
