Thanks Gers.
It's sunny and cool here, rain is forecast I believe.
Sorry to read that work is a problem Camelot.
Well, Dh's party went very well, the food was fine, I had been worried about the heat and things going off, resulting in cases of food poisoning, (I'm a catastrophiser) but it hasn't happened!
The birthday cake was a success, I'd used an M Berry recipe, and all in all we had a great time, thanks for the good wishes folks.
We had a quiet day yesterday, but will be back to normal today.
Hope everyone is ok and has good days. Take care folks.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a strange sky out there, a different colour whichever way you look, so any weather condition could happen. I think the forecast is light rain and then thunderstorms later so need to be prepared for anything.
After last week's cancellation, thanks to the heat, I am meeting DF for lunch. We are hoping it's as quiet as our lunch 2 weeks ago. I need to catch the earlier bus prior to our meet up at noon as I have my shipping order to collect from B**ts, plus a trip into H & B for a few things. I have been quite lucky with their decent offers recently so hoping today is no exception.
I had a long phone chat with my bus buddy last night. She is really down now after the long waits for every result before they can finally decide on what treatment she needs. It's not sounding promising.
I got the kitchen and bathroom cleaned yesterday before downing tools so the dust and vac all around still awaits. I am lacking GUAG.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. I keep thinking of our MIA and hoping they might pop in. Take care all, be safe xx

Hi again - I'm so pleased that all turned out well @ScarletRibbons. Have a great time with your DF @TravellingAbuela. Two cleaning jobs in one day is a lot @IzzyBee, take things easy.
After posting yesterday I got a text to say that my M&S order was in, two days early. I whizzed up to the big town to collect and, inevitably, did a bit of shopping. My order is a belt for my trousers which are now too big for comfort. If my heart had won over my head I'd have bought a stretchy snake one with the weird S-shaped buckle which I had in my childhood. Evocative but probably useless!
Then I set to work through my list of phone calls to financial organisations. One I had requested interest information from back in April which didn't arrive, turns out that I had opened and closed the accounts very quickly so no interest gained. I do record most stuff, this fell through a hole. RBS have a dedicated phone line for customers aged over 60 years so the chap was very pleasant and patient as I dithered my way round three different spreadsheets. 😂
My lunch was a very tasty chicken Kyiv, lots of garlic which was soaked up by a salad. Today is cold roasted chicken, I may turn into one soon. Today I'll be trying hard to avoid all the blooming sport on TV, hope I don't have to do any housework!
Hugs to all, take care xx

Good morning
Another sunny start, albeit a lot cooler than recent mornings. Today is another trip to the eye clinic, it's getting me down now, but then I remember how my eyesight was and am grateful for my improved sight.
On the way home later will pop into Aldee so will decide what to eat tonight then. DH has to take me to the clinic because the eye drops mean no driving.
Nothing else worth reporting, have a good day all, take care.

Morning all
I woke up to really heavy rain which was not forecast and we had a line of washing out which was already soaked 🙄 my dd is off to Crete on Sunday with work so we had washed a load of summer dresses to freshen them up and they were on the line, it’s meant to be sunny this afternoon so will see if they dry off otherwise I will wash them again.
Only one person coming today as the other one has an appointment so we are going to meet our friends and go strawberry and raspberry picking, it’s under cover so won’t be affected by the rain, there is a nice spot to eat lunch and get a cup of tea after.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops and vegetable rice with some asparagus and I need to start doing a shop for collection Wed or Thurs.
Scarlett I’m glad the party went well xx
Remmie I hope your eye appointment goes well xx
Have good days all and take care xx

GERS there's nothing wrong with snake belts! I have a couple that get swapped and changed to whatever jeans I am wearing! They are not on show as I don't wear anything tucked in these days!

Morning all from Mehefinland
Been MIA for the last week but keeping an eye on you lot 😊 Glad the blistering heat has passed and life is returning to more summer normality .Been in a bit of a funny mood as my lovely friend passed away on Wednesday with pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed last September and was quite sanguine about her situation. I think her poor husband will be suffering though as they lived for each other, had no children and very few rellies. I di try to pop down to see him on Sunday but missed him. It brought back lots of memories for me too as Dawn's anniversary is on the horizon.
On a happier note I treated myself last August to tickets to see 10cc and the day finally came around yesterday. Had a lovely time in the New Theatre in Cardiff although the seats were not the most comfortable. My knees are suffering today lol. It always amazes me when you see bands which are still going from when you were a yoof - some of these guys were in their 70s and 80s- not that you would have known. My little burpday treat to myself was well worth the ticket price - which was painful. Pre booked a carpark, and a meal all within 10 minutes walking the venue. Rather tired today though.
The lady who did the quilting for DS's wedding gift is opening a new fabric shop on Thursday ( to be officially opened by Kate Humble).Gwen and I are probably going to pop up to Monmouth to witness that - I expect it will be heavy on the pocket at some stage lol.
Gott o get on and cut the grass - its been waiting for days..
Hugs and spoons as always,
Mehefin aka Derek

Morning everyone
Gers I was never allowed one of those snake belts and always wanted one…'the boys' my brothers had them
Little one came for her tea yesterday as DD had a meeting with little foster baby, she'd been on a school trip to Beamish which she'd really enjoyed, especially the session in the Victorian school room with a Victorian teacher. She said she told them how great gran used to get her left hand tied behind her back and hit with a stick for talking!
I'm going to pop into town before work this morning, I need some bits from the chemist and have a bag of stuff to take to one of the charity shops. Eldest DD gets the keys to her new apartment today so she will show me around later, moving day is Saturday though she still has the one she's in now till the 15th July. She's been happy there but her promotion at work came with a big pay rise so she wanted to move somewhere with a balcony.
Right I must get moving. I hope everyone has a good day today x
