    It sounds to me that if you can find the money it would be worth paying a man to cut the grass so you can then keep it under control. You'll still need to buy replacement garden tools but it will be much easier once it's been cut back.

    Hi, you are going to need to sort the tools either fix them or buy replacements (maybe 2nd hand) and if you don't buy them but pay the man you are going to end up in the same situation. Do you know anyone that could lend you a mower? If not maybe a compromise and ask him to do half the work (nearest to what you want to use) and then repairs with the other half? You could probably do them both, the trimmers probably need some lubricant only. Good luck V x
