Soft close toilet seat…can you fix them?

our soft close toilet seat will only soft close on the seat part, the lid won’t, it just drops, can these be diy fixed or adjusted..?

Maybe, some you can open them up and add more dampening grease (not normal domestic grease). Some you cant but can replace the dampeners as a complete unit. That said, a quick google shows a replacement soft close dampener set is more expensive than a whole soft close toilet seat.

You could try the grease first, if you can open them up, but you may find that isnt the problem and so you'll have bought the grease and still need to replace the toilet seat.

Unless its a premiums/designer seat its probably easiest to simply re[lace it.

I know it's a bit crazy, especially on a mse site but I get my toilet seats from Costco for £20. I tend to replace them rather than fix these days.

I have seen a video on yt showing how to fix one, apparently you can take out the dampers and replace them, had a quick look at my seat and it doesn’t look the same ( mines a square type) , gonna have a proper look tomorrow..( by not the same I mean the fixings, there’s a clip you can take out to remove the dampers, mine doesn’t seem to have a clip)..
