REFUND FOR SOLAR PANELS PURCHASED IN 2014

I purchased 16 panels from My Planet in 2014. I paid by cheque - a total of £10500. I enhanced the system in 2022/23 with Battery Storage costing a total of £11500. I have recently had a vall from a company stating that I can claim compensation as My Planet went into liquidation in 2016. They are offering a refund of the total expended (£32,000) The refund comes from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Ths company want £4,000 up front to deal with this. Any experience of this or comments please.

A cold call, asking for £4k to pursue... Sounds like a scam...

Just because a company has gone under, doesn't mean you can have compo.

Ask yourself why would you get your money back just because they later went into liquidation? Is there anything wrong with your system? If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. As if the FSCS would get involved in that!

??? Why do you think you're entitled to any money, let alone 3x the amount of money you spent.

Has a scam written allover it. I'd say, "if you could get me 32k, then take your 4k once you win, and send the rest 😆"

Thanks for all your comments, which confirms my own thoughts. I have a call with them tomorrow and unless they agree to a no-win no fee and nothing up front I will not be proceeding.

I wouldn't engage further with the shysters.

They have you down as a possible target /victim already as you've agreed to the follow up discussion.

You'll probably get more approaches of this sort when they sell your details on.

Why do you think you even have a case here? You have not mentioned any failure with it and you have had the benefit of 12 years of generating your own electricity and 1@ years of feed in tariffs. Even if you had a case there is no company to claim from and there is no compensation scheme to fall back on.
