Adding Audio System to a Daewoo (TV that is!)

Hi,

I have a Daewoo DSL22V1WCD LCD TV with everything built in. The sound will make watching DVDs very dull so I've tried to connect a small stereo woofer system.
I've tried the miniature jack "Audio(PC IN)" but the TV sound did not even cut out and I've tried the L&R phonos but not a dicky from either and, yes, I did switch the stereo system on and turned up the volume!
I've also tried to do a Google on this and got nowhere.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions...the picture is great but the sound is awful.

I have been looking for the details of the TV but can't find anything. if you can take a photo of the connectivity on the back so I can get an idea of what is there. or a photo/scan of the manual showing the connectivity.

As your TV has a DVD player built in it is possible that the connections on the back are input only not outputs. There maybe a scart that will output you will need to connect a scart to phono cable to output to your hifi phono connection.

The typical impression next to a phono connection with an output is a circle with an arrow from the middle to the outside pointing outwards. for an input it is the same circle and the arrow points inwards. the scart will use a similar type with the arrows in or out but the circle is replaced with a rectangle.

There is no scart as far as I can see.
Thanks for looking, I couldn't find any info. either. There are a lot of connections as it is HD ready and can be used as a monitor.
It's a wee bit late tonight but I'll check the symbols tomorrow also, my wife bought it from QVC and she has told me that they have a "help" bit which I've contacted. They say they will reply in 24-48 hours which is good (as long as they don't say "haven't a clue"!!

Hi Little John,
Just thought I'd let you know how I got on. QVC only suggested I contacted the Daewoo technical advice e-mail address.
The reply is;
This product has an audio output on the scart socket but it is for analogue
TV only.

Therefore, this unit will not allow you to connect a stereo system to it and
output any sound.

How ridiculous is that! This TV plays DVDs CDs and has a card reader. It also can be used as a computer monitor. For just a couple of bob more it could be great for listening too.

Anyone thinking about buying a new TV should ask about the sound
