PIP Extension
I was originally awarded pip in August 2023 till 2026 but award letter said we will contact you August 2025 which DWP did but at the same time I had my tribunal and they extended my award by 1 year so DWP had to back down. My new award letter now says awarded untill August 2027 but again we will contact you in August 2026.
I am heared a lot of people are having there awards extended. I have not received a letter yet I have also checked the Check Your benefit proof and it remains unchanged.
Are the DWP only selecting a number of people ony?

I may be wrong, but if the date was set by a tribunal, I'm not sure if the DWP can change it, even if it's to extend it.

If the tribunal extended your pip to 2027, then why would the contact you now, youve another year of PIP as per your previous claim.
Extensions are being offered due to a backlog of claims and reassessments, so I would expect to be contacted some time in 2027 with either a reassessment questionnaire or a letter explaining an extension.

The review process usually begins 1 year before the the award end date.

Not anymore, it’s been changed. Based on my daughter’s review forms were received a week ago and her award ends in Feb 2027, so around 8 months before.

even if it is a year or so, it’s June 26 and the end of PIP is Aug 27. So yes the OP may be contacted anywhere between Aug 26 and Aug 27, however the time to worry is June 27.
Op can do a couple of things to ensure reassessment goes smoothly, one is ensure, if you’ve moved that DWP have the correct address to send the reassessment to. Start looking at their claim and what was awarded (seems only the length of claim was contested)Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Could it be that be that I went to tribunal and that's why DWP have decided not extend my award?

I know some locals to me who have awards expiring similar time as my award and have already had there awards extended by a year or 2 years.
When I went to tribunal I also contested points in 2 other areas as well as the length. I did not mention points for the other 2 areas in the original post as my concern is the award length extension.

If they do extend it then it won’t be until nearer the time the award ends and that isn’t until Aug 2027. Plenty of time yet. My daughters hasn’t been extended yet because it doesn’t end until Feb 2027.

I should probably have written "the review process is supposed to start 1 year before the award end date". I don't think it has done since Covid days but the DWP still add a year on (to allow for a review) to the length of award that is decided by the Case Manager.
