Extractor fan issue
So I had installed 2 mechanical extractor fans in my house.
1 in kitchen works great (vented onto wall).
2 one in bathroom giving issues.(vented to ceiling then across to wall)
So 1st one was on 2h on and wasn't clearing bathroom properly.
This Was replaced for one that doesn't want to switch off.
Its a envirovent quro lc make. Shower at 7am and fan is still going full force at 5pm although bathroom is dry.
Left it overnight from yesterday and it was on trickle this morning at 9am( no shower since 7am yesterday and not sure when it went onto trickle.)
Guy came out and has changed the moisture setting from 70% to 85%.
He says this will make it go off sooner.
But my issue is now my bathroom will have a lot more moisture than it should have.
We don't have dampness or anything in house for the extractor to run so long.
I have read that them running on full for so long can be a fire hazzard.
Just looking for opinions as I came to believe that they should be on 30-60mins to clear bathrooms.

Not Sure how these things work, or where you are located, but if the outside humidity is 85% (as it is here just now), unless your bathroom is a sealed unit would it not run pretty much constantly?

The ideal humidity setting for a bathroom fan is between 50% and 75% relative humidity (RH). Wait and see what difference the change of settings make, stop worrying.

if its remaining too moist at 85% and you didnt like how long it ran at 70% why not go for something between the two? The humidistat is likely a continuous setting so you can change it to anything (rather than it having fixed options).
Do you know the general humidity in the home? The humidity around us has been high the last few days which has resulted in our home currently being 68% humidity, whereas its normally 50% which is probably a little lower than average for the uk.
Assuming you have similar humidity around your area its possible the whole house is currently 70%+ in which case its not the bathroom its trying do dehumidify but the whole home hence why its running longer, the air its drawing in from other rooms isnt diluting the humidity enough

This is over a few weeks(since we noticed then till worker came out) No signs of high humidity.
Also if it was drawing humidity for at least 8h solid then my other fan would be doing the same. My kitchen Should have high humidity as its constantly used but the fan does not come on often.

Assuming both are controlled by a humidistat… are both bathroom and kitchen on the same floor? As warm air rises upstairs is typically warmer and therefore also more humid than downstairs which may explain why one is happy and the other is being triggered.
At the end of the day the answer is still the same, turn down the percentage required to trigger it so it's somewhere between the two values already tried. Normally its just a dial thats under the cover so easy to adjust

We have one fan that runs all the time and boosts when the light is turned, the other a humidity activated fan. With no heating on it runs for long periods. Outside is 81% inside around 60%. Buy yourself a humidity gauge, we try and keep the house below 60%. The fans we have use very little energy.
