Halfords Auto Watford Disgusting Service
Took my daughters car in as spanner alert on dash board. Paid for diagnostics, given a post it note of 6 things it could be! Agreed to get spark plugs changed, on collecting car was worse than before. Husband insisted he came back. Refused to check spark plugs. Told something else wrong. Took to another garage. Paid more money spark plug replaced cracked. Car all fine. Conplained to halfords auto who are uncontactable by email. You have to ring get complaint logged then reply to their email. Sent all proof. Absolutely rubbish reply, go to respond case closed. Help where next !

Make a second complaint, including about the first complaint being closed improperly.
Is the car sorted now, and did the other garage check the car's computer and report if any diagnostic codes were still being reported? Did the other garage provide you with a written report that they found one of the spark plugs was cracked and needed replacing (again)? If not, I would ask them to send you an email while the repair is fresh in their minds.
Halfords owe you for their shoddy service, but if the cost is less than £200, the best 'solution' may be to rubbish them all over social media while remaining very factual - you don't want to be sued for defamation! It will make you all feel better, but won't replace the money you have lost. If it more than £200, you can consider going to court. If you have home insurance, you might find that you have legal expenses cover as part of the policy. If so talk to the Legal Helpline provided by your insurer. If they are confident of winning, and I think they would be in this case (providing you have written evidence from the second garage that Halfords damaged a spark plug), they will take the case on for you. If you don;t have legal expenses cover, you can either pay a solicitor for advice or take the case to the small claims court yourself. Going to court is risky; even with a water-tight case, the judges don't always make the correct decision so you have to weigh up whether it is worth the effort and stress.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
i sent a 2nd complaint bounced, as they are locked down, you cannot email! I’m going to send a registered letter.
Had to have new spark plugs fitted £200, the knock sensor checked £50 as they said was the issue 2nd time, and oil topped up so extra £495 ! I even sent photo of the cracked spark plug & 2nd garage report.Car all sorted, no error after spark plug replaced.
