Good morning Gers, thanks for starting.
Another hot sleepless night, we were told we would have thunderstorms overnight, but nothing yet. I thought it would start to cool down today, but looking at the forecast it will be hotter than yesterday, 34 degrees today.
So,nothing planned for today, DH took big dog on his long walk at 10pm last night, I think they both needed it. It was only just getting dark.
Last night we had steak and salad, it didn't take long to cook the steak and was very enjoyable. I asked OH if he wanted chips and he said no, that's a first! Tonight maybe fish and chips from the freezer.
Nothing else to report, another day of reading and keeping cool, temperatures are set to go down to something more normal next week, so housework can wait until then.
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning @Gers morning all
Yet another hot day, last one hopefully before it cools down to a nice temperature.
Just watered the garden now back to bed for half an hour before I do the second batch of ironing while it's cool and won't be doing much else today except having cool drinks and sitting in the shade. Housework can take a jump this week, it will still be there next week.
Have a good day all x

Morning, thanks Gers.
It's a fine start with a cool breeze, set to be a fine day I think
I think I'll tidy the garden (again!). It faces North, so it'll be cool. I always seem to be tidying out there, I don't know how it gets so messy.
Granddaughter will be here for the weekend, she often is now at weekends. The rest of the family go to their weekend cottage, but she likes to socialise with her friends at weekends now.
Not much else on, apart from doing everything I can in advance for dh's birthday ,it'll be 2 weeks tomorrow. Some things can only be done in the couple of days beforehand. I want to be as prepared as possible.
Hope everyone has a good day, keep safe and if you can.

Morning again. Overnight was the first time this year that sleeping was disturbed by the heat. Yesterday was hot though not uncomfortably so.
My washed bedding was very swiftly sent through the big roller ironing machine, all done in under five minutes and only cost £3.00. On the way home I took away the rubbish bag, bought a wee locally made sourdough loaf (sliced and in the freezer) and dropped off bottles of elderflower syrup to a couple of neighbours. I'm contemplating making more to freeze, not sure yet. I sat out for a wee while in the late afternoon doing a bit of reading and also sprayed some stuff on the weeds.
The postie brought me the long-awaited operation date for the kidney stone. It's right at the end of July with the pre-op a week before. I questioned the wait and was told that the laser machine needed to do the zapping had broken and the hospital was struggling to get a replacement part. After waiting four months for a new part for my car last year I can well believe it. Ah well…it's in the calendar now and I'm looking forward to normal life resuming soon.
This morning I have an early appointment at my optician. The practice has recently changed hands, the previous owner retired after nearly 30 years there, she as rather old-fashioned and very formal, not that that's a bad thing. I'll drop in to see my friends who live halfway between me and the big town, we spoke about it yesterday as I'm not a fan of people popping in unannounced or unexpected.
Our threatened thunderstorms didn't arrive last night, they seemed to skirt further north (Coll and Tiree were being battered by rain) and eastwards. They are still on the forecast for later today.
Take care all, xx

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I thought we were escaping the forecast rain but just after I got up there were suddenly rumbles of thunder followed by a heavy downpour. It's now eased off so I guess we have had our rain allowance for now and it's moved on to someone else. I think the gardens could have done with a bit more but every little helps I suppose.
DGD's little gathering before the Prom went well with lots of photos taken. She looked absolutely beautiful but I would say that wouldn't I? For some silly reason DD had offered to host the after party with 15 children coming back.
Now it's going to be cooler, allegedly anyway, I suppose I had better drag myself away from the fan this morning and get a couple of jobs done. It won't be the usual Friday tidy, that's a step too far, but the kitchen and bathroom could do with a once over at least. I have a longing for some fish now after going through most of the leftover bits in the freezer, so will do that with some air fryer wedges for dinner.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care all, be safe x

Morning everyone
@Gers Glad to hear you've got a date for your op
@ScarletRibbons I need some of your motivation to get prepared for birthdays :)
@Chrisca50 and @remmie I am with you on the housework waiting for another day
I'm so busy at work this week and picking up DD from school at 1.30.
Hoping our gardener turns up - place is like a jungle and would be nice to get it sorted.
Sorted through budgets and surprisingly feeling ok about things even with 8 weeks of unpaid leave looming. I wonder if I can do some half days or part time in August so it doesn't totally drain all of our savings.
Hope everyone stays cool wherever you are!

Morning all
Yesterday was ridiculously hot 🥵 the temp in the garden was 43 at 6 in the evening we had three fans going in the lounge and cool mats for the dogs to sleep on, I also had some frozen hot water bottles and dd and I took one each to bed, they have said today will be a bit cooler and only get up to 28 but it’s already 26 so I’m not sure I believe them!
Going to take the dogs out after this just one lap of the park will do them, as long as they get to do their business and have a good sniff that will do them while it’s so hot.
I’ve got some salmon out for dinner so will cook that this morning and have it cold with something, I will think of that later, there is pasta salad and coleslaw left so may use that up.
I hope everyone manages to stay cool.
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning all. The predicted rain didn't happen here so we have bright sunshine and 26 degrees atm.
Nothing much going on here today although we are due to have a sealed unit replaced in the front bay window after lunch so one of us will need to be around for that to happen.
Yesterday we spent some time at DD's with the grandchildren, as their school and childminder had closed. It was lovely there as they had an air con unit fitted on the landing earlier in the year and it seems to cool most of the house.
We had chicken pieces cooked in the air fryer last night and tonight will be filled pasta with a tomato and mascarpone sauce; both courtesy of the Community Larder. Went to buy some ice cream in the big Tesco yesterday and the shelves were empty, apart from a few boxes of own brand magnum type lollies, so we bought a box of those!
Good to hear you have an op date Gers and hope it goes ahead smoothly.
Stay cool everyone.

Morning everyone
After a very hot day yesterday we're forecast showers today…by hot I mean high 20s, not the 43 degrees you had Redruby!
Little one came home with me after school as DD had a meeting, she'd been outside a lot so we sat in the summer house and made a picnic out of playdoh. Once she'd gone home after tea I sat outside and read for ages. I also managed to sort mams' music player so I'll take that down this morning.
I'm not sure if I've got her tonight or tomorrow night, I'm taking them both to a friends' birthday party tomorrow afternoon though. We might go to the local splash park after the party and make the most of the sunshine.
Right, I need to make my lunch and get dressed then I'll go down to see mam and dad before work. I hope everyone has a good day x
