It was £1.18 at the Co-op and today I spent £13.21 between Ald! and Home Bargains

Aldi - orange juice, 3 x assorted bags of salad with 75% off, hot dog rolls YS, bananas, parsley,

HB - cucumber, courgettes 3 pack, naan 3 pack, sponges for cleaning the bath, light brown sugar and dark brown sugar.

Think that was it.

£5.65 spent in Aldee this morning. It was purely 'junk' to add to picnicky lunches - but will support more than one outing so 🤞nothing else to buy in that line for the rest of July.

Rightly or wrongly, I didn't bother looking around the rest of the shop - just straight to the shelves I needed. I'm pretty set for fruit and veg (although I did a quick glance over the S6). But purely as a matter of interest, do Aldee have set times they do their discounting? Or is it on a store by store basis. I hadn't really time to have a leisurely look this morning, as there are major roadworks during 'school' hours and the diversions are massive and through tiny streets and residential areas (I bet the homeowners are fewmin'), and it was a better decision to travel whilst the major routes were still open, prior to work starting for the day.

The little top ups are my nemesis, although at this point we would usually be at least £100 further on so this is still so good for us! £34 to last us just over a week - I think I'll mostly need milk and bread. My freezer is very full…

I missed out on visiting my usual Community Fridge this week due to a clashing appointment elsewhere, but I have plenty of food squirrelled away in the freezer which needs using up and I am menu planning from that for the coming week.

I needed to get milk, a sliced loaf, potatoes, onions and mushrooms today but then remembered there is a small Community Pantry on a Thursday morning in a nearby town - it's not usually all that good, it's my fourth favourite, but it's near the supermarket I was going to anyway so thought I would have a quick look first.

I picked up 4 pints of semi skimmed filtered milk, a 500ml carton of plant based double cream (I thought it might be okay in soups and curries …… has anyone used something similar before they can report on please?), 1 large bag of potatoes, lots of pak choi and broad bean pods, a loaf of Warburtons sliced wholemeal bread, a small baguette, red onions, brown onions, mushrooms, 2 bananas, 6 nectarines, fresh coriander, 2 large leeks, a litre bottle of freshly squeezed lime juice, and a tub of fancy ready-made spicy lentil soup. Really pleased with that, and no need to go to the supermarket!

It's a £1 voluntary donation at this Pantry so my July total is now £62.02/£150

Grocery Budget for July for 2 Pensioners at £5 a day, £155.

18/7 DH bought Aldi milk, £1.65, grapes £1.37, cream £1.29, 5 bananas 78p, and strawberries 99p

£6.08 spent.

He took me to Aldi today, milk £1.65 x 2, yoghurt 1kg £1.49, pork pie £1.99, ground almonds £1.09, mixed seeds 99p, salted peanuts 59p, carrots 44p, cucumber £1.05, red pepper 70p, 7 mini bananas 88p, 2 x oranges £1.39, nectarine 1kg £2.39, super 6 offer, 6 x apples 59p, blueberries £1.19, and cherries 65p, wonky grapes £1.37 and strawberries £1.19. The apples will keep well in the garage.

£25 60 spent.

Total spent £142.16.

Shop Zero done - just £20 spent! Leaving me £12.57 in the shopping budget for the end of the month, in case I need any milk.

Morning all

Back from our holiday in Devon looking after D.S number 1’s house and pets.

All went well, no vet trips this time and not too much money spent, brings our July total to £228.67. Relli visit next week will be free, yay

Just on an aside, Lidl’s are panicking as I haven’t been for a while and are offering free fruit for the next week, free loaf the following week and free veg the following week. I may succumb, haven’t yet decided. Any spends I make will be parked on August.

It was a big shock last night coming home to a very hot closed up home having been by the sea for the week. I see more heat is on the way 🫠

Sains £46.75 & £8 in £land on brioche rolls, kinder choc & some bottled drinks for a picnic this weekend.

I need to do better at keeping track as I can’t find my receipts from the weekend so don’t know how much I spent - I have the total amounts but that included quite a bit of stuff that isn’t part of my grocery budget so going to add an average weekly spend £200 -£254.75 to add = £761.69/£800.

With a week still to go Definitely going to be over budget again this month
