Looking for some advice on an East midlands rapid drop off charge

Hello,

For context: A couple months ago I picked someone up from the East Midlands airport using the rapid drop off. It was late so I went to pay the day after and after getting through the whole process, the page just went blank and I just assumed payment went through and went on with my day.

Cut to a month ago where the registered keeper gets a Debt Recovery Plus letter saying to pay up (never received any letter regarding the failed payment before this), I've read through the newbie thread and told them to ignored the letter as per the thread.

Now a couple days ago they've received another letter from the same guys but with an additional letter with the subject "Case monitoring Active (Eligible for legal action)". I've tried to find some more info regarding this specific letter, as I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere, to see if it's still okay to ignore but didn't find anything other than info saying that due to people ignoring these letters, there's now a higher chance to be taken to court which I would like to avoid.

So my question is just what should I do from now? Has anything changed regarding APCOA and their chances of being taken to court? What are the chances? Is there any way to prevent it from going that far in the first place? One of the letters says the right to appeal is now gone but how strict are they with that?, like if I emailed whoever needed to be emailed saying there was a system error or some mistake would they even care at this point or would it just be a waste of time?

This is my first thread and I tried to follow the rules and give the relevant info without saying too much so hopefully I managed that but sorry if I missed something. Thanks for reading

"there's now a higher chance to be taken to court"

Not with APCOA there isn't! They never sue.

    No panicking. No paying.

  • Huh okay thanks guys for the reassurance, you guys are the best. Didn't really know how to proceed since different threads had small details that were different so I didn't know if it would apply in my case but thank you for clearing it up. Do APCOA really never sue? That seems so funny to me lol.

I’ve been here for over 13 years and have never seen one yet.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

If you look at DRP letters over the years they look like they give them to the village idiot as a project.

I have been posting here 20 years and APCOA have never sued anyone.

Not saying they never will (but they never have) and either way, parking claims are a cinch to beat.
