SOLVED : Window not closing
Hi I am having trouble closing a window and I wonder if anyone could advice. that round thing from the middle/upper frame seems not to fit into the lower frame. I have tried everything I could.

I think hinges at the top need attention, but it's not an easy job.

Is this a recent issue? Could be expansion due to the hot weather, especially if it's in the sun.

With the window open, when you turn the handle does the protruding plug/knob move at all?

There were issues closing it in the past but it did close. Now it's not closing because maybe, as you state, of the hot weather

there's 3 of them at the bottom and all 3 move

Thanks. I had an issue where the connecting wire had broken and that caused the problem, not relevant to you.
Has the window dropped slightly or one edge moved? Wont take much to get out of alignment.

Hi oldernonethewiser,
It seems that the protruding bit is the cause on the right most side. it seems to have moved downwards a little bit. Nothing else seems to have moved. I was thinking if I tape it tightly using sellotape, it might stay up and allow the window to close. I just tried and was using a flat head screw driver to keep the protruding part up and it closed without any tape.
So sorry to have raised this. I will try to mark it as solved. But thank you all for your insights and comments.

My French windows refused to close one very hot day during the May heatwave, unless I opened both and closed them together. The next morning they were OK again. I had the double glazing people coming anyway to measure up for some more new windows and had the guy take a look - he said lots of problems with the heat (I notice yours is dark coloured which would make it even worse) but did tweak it improve the clearance. It's been OK since even with the even hotter weather.
