Morning again, it's a fine sunny start here.
I'm meeting a couple of friends for coffee this morning, in our local high street, so not far to go.
Yesterday was ok, just the usual jobs. One advantage of our house facing north, is that it stays cool in the front rooms ( there has to be some advantage!)
Not much else going on here, hope everyone is ok, take care folks.

Good morning, thanks for starting Scarlet.
Just sitting by an open window trying to cool down, what a hot night. It's currently 22 degrees here. Poor big dog is really suffering with the heat, we have a portable air conditioner going 24/7, but he doesn't understand that moving around is making him hotter. And he's very suspicious of his cooling mat.
Anyway, in other news the sink saga is over. All fitted and working, I expect you're as fed up with it as I was. It was funny when DH rang our local diy to ask if they had a part, which they did, he asked if they needed a name to save it for him, the reply, no, we know you, you have a blue car and a hairy dog! Could have been worse I suppose.
Not even thinking about food for tonight, last night was chicken with coleslaw and a jacket potato.
Camelot, I hope your meeting went well.
YorksLass, sending you hugs, hope DS gets his job situation sorted out soon.
Dp1, it must be bittersweet selling your dear parents house so quickly.
Take care today if you have the heat, stay hydrated.

Morning all
Another hot one today. Last load of washing to hang out after our holiday. Should dry quickly!!
Surveyor came round yesterday and agreed that we should have to have the whole of the living room dining room and kitchen floor replaced. Not looking forward to that but glad that he didn't just say the kitchen and dining room as 2 different colours would not look nice at all. Just hope we can get the double glazing done before they give us a date for the floor.
A quiet day in front of the fan for most of it for me!
Have a good day all x

Morning All
Warm and sunny already, I've left all the upstairs blinds closed as it gets very hot up there. Not so much downstairs at the front but the kitchen blind will be closed too when I leave for work. The house felt really stuffy yesterday when I got home but thankfully there was a bit of a (warm) breeze.
The work meeting was useful, another one with the union this morning then I asked for the final one on Friday as it was going to be left until after the holiday and we finish on Friday. I would rather everything was sorted before we finish, easier all round. I was quite proud of myself, asked the questions I wanted to (didn't get all the answers but was promised they would get back to me) and didn't get emotional - I have a tendancy to cry in these situations, maybe that will happen at the one to one meeting on Friday!
It's a fun day at work with bouncy castles and all sorts, glad it's a sunny day as most of it can go outside.
Glad the house was sold quickly dp1, with everything going on it would be awful if it dragged on.
Pleased to hear you have a resolution with the floor Chrisca.
Love that the shop know your OH by the car and hairy dog remmie!
Have a good day, stay cool and take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Phew is all I shall say! Currently 23 deg and set to rise to 30 deg.
Despite a late night football watching I still had a sleepless night, tossing and turning and throwing the duvet off then back on all night. It's supposed to be lunch day with DF but I am expecting a cancellation on that as she doesn't cope well with the extreme heat.
The hairdresser came as promised yesterday and actually took me at my word and only cut off the very ends. In fact it doesn't look any different but that's better than being scalped!
Lots of leftover picky bits from the freezer are getting used up whilst it's too hot to do any cooking. The last piece of the Higgidy quiche, bought ys, was my tea yesterday with salad and lo baby potatoes crisped up in the air fryer. I expect it will be similar today if lunch out is cancelled.
YL I hope you will have a better day today. I wish I could say these occasions or anniversaries get easier with time but I'd be fibbing. What a shame your DS's job offer didn't transpire. I hope something else comes along soon. It must be disheartening for him.
CAMELOT I hope yesterday's meeting went the way you wanted it to. Fingers crossed.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) as always for all in need. Take care in this heat, be safe xx

Morning all - thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons. It's not hot or sunny here, definitely on the warm side but too much thick grey cloud for sunshine. I've stripped the bed and put on fresh bedding. Won't do the wash until tomorrow when we're 'promised' the hottest day of the year.
The hearing aid appointment was swift; the lovely Les (man) took it apart, cleaned it with tiny wee plastic wires, checked inside my ears and I was gone. My good right ear is still dull following my cold / cough though it should clear when the final traces of the infection are gone.
On my way home I took a parcel to post. Our local PO has closed for two weeks holiday so I went along to the next village which has a pop-up PO twice a week. Finally, I tackled the neglected spreadsheets and banking stuff, won't leave it so long again even though it was only really two weeks. I've opened three regular saver accounts this week so needed to get them organised.
This morning my cleaner is coming so I'll tidy up the coffee table before he comes. Then I'll go out. No plans for the afternoon yet.
Funny about your DH @remmie, enjoy your new sink! Well done on pushing things @camelot1001, leaving things so late is plain ridiculous and probably designed to cause more tension and less well thought out decisions.
Take care in the heat - just as deadly as the cold. xx

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the kick off @ScarletRibbons - definitely take the benefits of living with being north-facing 👌
Ha @remmie that's funny they could give you that description - hope your dog gets more used to his chill mat. Mine started chewing his until the gel came out!
@Chrisca50 good news on the floor then
@camelot1001 good luck with all the work stress. I hear ya, I cried every day in work last week but only once in a call, and that was when someone was being nice to me!
@TravellingAbuela I like the sound of the picky bits for tea - might steal that for tonight
We've got DD off school this afternoon so that'll make things easier for me as I've got a meeting right across normal pick up time. Same tomorrow. Alas, £10 in after school club fees saved and the knowledge she is safe and cool at home of course…
I'm still just spending time trying to get ahead of the game for my op in a couple of weeks - started stocking the freezer and deep cleaning. Hard slog but needs must (and well overdue)
Happy Wednesday everyone!

morning everyone thanks for the start scarlet my house is the same as yours in fact it’s never warm nice in weather like this but not good in the winter. Remmie that’s so funny about the dog if he’s anything like me I expect he’s been called worse. Yorkslass I hope your son gets a job soon he will be fed up but I’m sure something will come along. DP1 it’s good that the house sold quickly and it’s not dragging on . Chirsca good news with the floor . TA it’s taken years for my hairdresser not to scalp me but you still have to keep saying every step just a bit off there I think they are all scissor happy. Camelot I agree with Gers they leave these decisions until the last minute on purpose it’s shocking. I’m off out to a cleaning job at least this house is a cool house then I will be back and doing not a lot . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Morning all. Hot and sunny here already and forecast to get to 33 today; eek!
I've hung out some white washing and the back garden was quite cool but it will soon be too hot to use. Yesterday I took our winter duvet to the laundrette then dried it outside on the line; another job done.
Larder as usual this morning although a lot of volunteers are away so there will be more for we remaining few to do. DH will walk up, keeping to the shady side of the street, and bring home some of the heavier bags.
DGS's school has said to pick up at 1pm for today and tomorrow, because of the heat, plus my Wednesday night Morris side has pulled out of an evening of dance in central Oxford, for the same reason. We have 4 people now in their 80s. My Tuesday night side did go ahead last night at a fairly local pub. The Landlord was very enthusiastic, which was lovely, and he'd arranged a chip van to come into the car park and bought us all chip butties at 9pm.
Fingers crossed for your preferred outcome @camelot1001
Stay cool everyone in the South.

Morning all
Like most of us I had a really uncomfortable night 🥵🔥it was just too hot to sleep well, it’s already up to 26 and we are to expect 36-38 today as we are right on the south coast, I have a fan going in the lounge for the dogs and I have just ordered another one, I think I won’t take them out today as it’s just too much for them, OH might take them about 9 this evening.
I am off to mums this morning she has a visit from the hospice nurse and I want to ask her a few questions, and then I have the dentist this afternoon.
Dinner tonight will be a Greek salad with some French fries, I will order the fries from a local takeaway as I don’t want the oven on.
Camelot well done for staying strong and I hope the other meetings go well xx
Remmie that did make me laugh 😃
Have good days all and take care xx
