DFS Cancelled Order- Can I get Compensation?
Long story short, I ordered a sofa and upon delivery 2 out of the 3 items were damaged. I accepted the undamaged item and rejected the other 2.
The original sofa is no longer available and they will not give me a free upgrade to the next closest model. They are offering a refund and collecting the sofa.
My question is, Im out of pocket (refund will be received), but I'm not at a disadvantage having thrown away my sofa and currently have no sofa to sit on whilst I find a new company to buy a sofa.
Where do I stand from a legal and consumer law perspective? Am I entitled to compensation for my loses? Should I simply take them to small claims court?
Does anyone have any experiences of a similar situation and were you able to reach an acceptable resolution?

You are back in the financial position you started with the refunds. Just you threw your sofa away.
You can ask, but they do not have too.

Did they collect your old one as part of the deal ?
Throwing away your old one before satisfied with the new one is not their problem really.

What losses can you quantify?
Have a look on freecycle or use garden chairs temporarily. Not ideal, but neither was disposing of your sofa before the other one was delivered and checked.

Eh???
Do you mean you will not be out of pocket but you will be disadvantaged?

Thanks for the comments. I guess I stand in the spot where my sofa used to be 😁. (typo correction "…I'm now disadvantaged")
It's a shame that DFS messed up my order and were not willing to supply me with another sofa of equal of better value. I will be making a new purchase at another company not linked to DFS. They also own Sofology
I dont think it's unreasonable to dispose of the old sofa on the morning once you receive confirmation that the delivery is arriving later that day. I just dont have the space for 2 sets of sofas
