I have always believed that buying from the railway company direct were the same price as Railine- Wrong!!!!
National Express East Coast have now taken over the East Coast run from GNER.
I am going to London this week and went to National Express website to book tickets, for some reason, I thouught I would check with Trainline, result, a saving of nearly £20 using exactly the same trains, buying single tickets!
With Trainline, they charge a pound for each ticket to be posted, or 75p each ticket for using Fasticket, they also charge £2.50 per transaction for Visa etc, free with debit card.
I hope this proves useful to you all.
Regards,
Colmil.

Bear in mind the train companies' own booking systems run off the same database, so usually the prices are the same. On the other hand, the train operators don't charge to use a credit card, or charge for fasticket. FirstScotrail is the one I usually use, for no other reason than I live there.0 -
also remember that train operators might have their own promos. for example:
national express trains offer 10% discount on advance tickets if booked through them.
first transpennine has 'student getaway' deals which is 50% off an advance ticket (Advance A) - im now glad they're operating manchester - edinburgh route even if their trains dont match voyagers! they've also got 25% off advance tickets in their 'january sale' - applicable to all passengers.
virgin trains - you can get 'saver half' tickets which is half portion of saver return tickets, except you can combine with advance tickets for cheapest return option.
etc etc. all only available through their website.0 -
Do you have a link/web address for the train section of National Express please? - sally0
