How to deal with old PCN

apologies if this is addressed in the newbie thread, but I couldn't find how to deal with it.

This morning i received a text from Trace, titled final demand. I contacted them to find out what this was about. I have had no prior contact with Trace.

Their text relates to a PCN that was apparently issued in October 2023 and posted to me. The lady on the phone said they had sent 17 letters to me.

She confirmed that they did not have my current address on file (i moved to this address in September 2023 and it is likely their letter somehow got missed/was before DVLA was updated, despite the fact I had a postal redirect in place). The address the NTK went to was correct/my previous address.

She then asked me to confirm my previous address that started 'XX'. I stated that i have never lived at a number XX. She said that they had gotten that address from a trace on me, and that is where all subsequent letters had been sent to. At no time have i ever lived at number XX, so I'm not sure how that address could have come up for me. She acknowledged that that address was incorrect, based on my response.

My phone number has also not changed in over 15 years, and yet today was the first time i got a text.

She has sent me what is on file. There is only one letter - the original NTK. there is the certificate of posting, and numerous photos of my car. No windscreen PCN was issued.

The original NTK is from Alliance Parking. I am unable to appeal via their website - it doesn't recognise the reference number on the NTK - probably due to age.

My appeal would be based on the grace period of minutes granted by the landowner between ticket expiry and the pictures taken by the enforcement officer. It was not at a retail car park, but a car park that is owned by a charity.

Appreciate any advice.

Too late to appeal , or to deal with the pcn itself

Email your correct address details plus the VRM details and any references to the DPO at Alliance Parking, telling them that they MUST ERASE your old address and only use the current address for the service of papers ( as a Data Rectification Notice. )

I think I would add that I deny all liability for the alleged debt and will defend any claim against me.

You are already halfway through the limitation period and you don't want to restart the clock.

"The lady on the phone said they had sent 17 letters to me. She confirmed that they did not have my current address on file."

Excessive letters and an old address. Nice! She was no lady… this is a scam PCN. All private parking charges currently come from an unregulated, rogue industry.

Wasting money on a purported SEVENTEEN (pull the other one, Trace 'lady'!) letters to a wrong address is their problem.

You will never pay this invoice but obviously, rectify your address and tell Trace to erase the old one.

You'll know how to do that from when you read post 2 of the NEWBIES FAQs thread.

"The original NTK is from Alliance Parking."

Surely you've read some threads about that bunch? There's no appeal. Horrific firm, by all accounts.

Once you have corrected your address with their respective Data Protection Officers, ignore Alliance and Trace (again you'll know this from reading post 4 of the NEWBIES READ THIS FIRST thread).

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
